Pack Princess by Milly Taiden and Mina Carter

Blurb:
A single night of passion, or the one meant to be…

Evva Castillo knows she’s a pack princess. Duty to her family and her pack will always come first. But duty turns to hardship when she’s ordered to marry someone she doesn’t want. Can her hope for a night of wild fun bring her the courage to do her duty?

Razor is the leader of the Devil Riders MC. They’re tough, rough, and dangerous enough that no one dares to enter their sanctuary. Until a daring princess shows up to cause trouble, stir his libido and give him a run for his money.

When the time comes to let her go, can he watch her walk away or will he finally face the past he’s been running from…

I gave it five out of five stars.
Evva has had her life planned out for her since birth. Oldest daughter to the pack Alpha, it is her duty to do what is best for the pack- even if it means sacrificing her own happiness.
Razor is the president of the Devil Riders MC with a secret that has been neatly tucked away for years. That is until he met her. Now it is a race against the clock to face his inner demons or risk losing his mate forever. Can Razor face his past, or will he lose the only woman he may ever love?

Where do I start? I loved everything about this book! The writing style was smooth and easy flowing, taking me away to the wonderful shifter world that Mina Carter and Milly Taiden created. The characters were easy to fall for. Evva is a very strong and a fantastic leading female. She is witty, fun, and loyal to her family no matter what. Razor is the epitome of Alpha males- he's rough but sweet for the lady who has captured his heart. The side cast was equally as wonderful with individual personalities that made them stick out in their own unique way.

No plot holes, no errors, just drama, tension, and smoking scenes that will leave you completely blown away! I do wish the story was longer. Seeing more of the MC life Razor lives would have been great, and I wanted a bit more on Evva's life, but the lack of those qualities didn't ruin the book in the least.

Short but totally sweet. You will love this book if you're looking for a HEA with a paranormal edge!

Love Burned Deep Review

Contemporary Novella
Blurb
Sometimes the past stays in the past, and other times it can follow you forever. All Rachel wanted was to live a life of happiness and have her husband all to herself. Cody had a rough start as a troubled kid addicted to drugs, but with a lot of help and support, he turned himself around and became a top notch firefighter who was head over heels in love with Rachel.

Not everyone was as lucky as Cody. Jealousy from a past love and fellow addict threatens to tear him and Rachel apart and send their happiness up in flames. Cody has no idea how to face this situation from his past and save his marriage.

Love, trust, and the hope of one day having a family together keep Rachel from walking away from Cody and his past and never looking back. Will her faith in her man and their love be enough to overcome evil, or will they forever be burned?

I gave it five out of five stars!
Super sexy firefighter Cody and his amazingly supportive wife Rachel have a deeply loving and wonderful relationship, but time stands to test their bond when an ex from the past begins popping up everywhere. Is faith enough to keep them together, or will they wind up getting burned?

This book completely blew my mind! Well written, emotionally moving, and utterly captivating. Who can’t relate to some jealousy when an ex shows up? This book perfectly captures the little tendrils of fear and doubt we all face when a stressful situation continues to grow. I was literally brought to tears halfway through for Cody and Rachel. Nickie Seidler held nothing back in this short romantic novella! Don't believe me; why not check it out for yourself? You won't be sorry!

My Familiar Stranger by Victoria Danann

Paranormal Romance
Blurb
Minutes ahead of inevitable assassination, Elora Laiken is forcibly transported to an alternate dimension similar, but not identical, to her own. She is stranded. Alone. Far from home. A stranger in a "strangish" land.

Of course a girl could suffer worse problems than having gorgeous suitors. Perhaps more importantly, in the midst of an epidemic of vampire related abductions, can she stay alive long enough to choose between an honor debt, true love, or the breathlessness of single-minded passion?

Appropriate for 17+

I gave this book four and a half out of five stars.
Elora Laiken is thrown into a sudden flurry of change through one horrific event. Now she is stuck in an alternate dimension where everything stands similar, but has its vast differences, to her own land. The traumatic situation she was pulled into by fate must be taken in stride and pushed aside to help those who gave her a hand when the deck seemed stacked against her.
The Order of the Black Swan, team B, are known for being complete badasses who are impeccably gorgeous rebels. They will protect mankind- but their unpredictable tactics have earned them many lectures from the superior. Master vampire slayers, and masters in the bedroom, how could Elora possibly keep things professional between them? Especially when two are bent on making her their wife.
Perhaps more importantly, in the midst of an epidemic of vampire related abductions, can she stay alive long enough to choose between an honor debt, true love, or the breathlessness of single-minded passion?
This book was instantly captivating with a brand new world of endless possibilities and mystery. I can only explain this book as suspenseful, mysterious, magical, funny, and steamy. Each character was thoroughly developed and relatable.
Elora, the obviously main character of this book, is a strong, independent woman with a great sense of honor and courage. I loved her from the first page to the very last! Ram, Storm, Kay, and Baka were also high up there, though if I had to choose Baka would be my favorite out of the males. Each one had their own lovable quirk with hidden scars.

Well written with descriptive detail and such a fun layout- which you’ll see for yourself right away-, it was so hard to put this book down! My only complaint would be the length of monotonous intervals between the drama and action. I admit to skimming one part where nothing of importance seemed to be happening. This did not happen often, so I’m defiantly pleased and watching out for more from this author. I would SERIOUSLY recommend this book to paranormal romance lovers everywhere!

But also check out the box set, where even at $.9.99 you save money for what is a great collection of stories:

Stalky-stalky the author!

For the past fourteen years, Victoria Danann has illustrated and authored Seasons of the Witch calendars and planners and written several non-fiction books on magickal arts. She lives in a town north of Houston known as The Woodlands even though the idea of the witch in the woods may be a cliché.
She owns 7th House Publishing and contributes to its enterprises. In addition to art and writing, she plays Classic Rock music (keys, rhythm guitar, vocals). Married. Four children.

"I write unapologetic romances with uniquely fresh perspectives on paranormal creatures, characters, and themes. Add a dash of scifi and a flourish of fantasy to enough humor to make you laugh out loud and enough steam to make you squirm in your chair. My heroines are independent femmes with flaws and minds of their own whether they are aliens, witches, demonologists, psychics, or past life therapists. My heroes are hot and hunky, but they also have brains, character, and good manners - usually - whether they be elves, demons, berserkers, werewolves, or vampires.

My first book, My Familiar Stranger, was nominated for Best Paranormal Romance of 2012 by the Reviewers' Choice Awards. Each of my books has remained on the Amazon best seller list in category every day since release. All three also earned the Night Owl Reviews TOP PICK award.
My work has been compared to J R Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Lara Adrian.
For example:
"I do see shades of Lara Adrian's Breed books and shades of J R Wards Black Dagger books, but this story is unique enough that it stands out all on its own and can stand up along side those other books and I think given time will elbow them out of the way with the rich story telling and deep emotional core that makes you want to know more." - Kerry, Musings of a Bookworm

The Order of the Black Swan is a series that is also a serial saga. Each book is an episodic installment in an ongoing story. Join me for the adventure."

Night Owl by M. Pierce

night-owl-cover
Contemporary Romance
Blurb
At twenty-eight, Matt Sky has the perfect life. He has a beautiful girlfriend, a massive inheritance, and four national bestsellers -- all penned under his airtight alias, M. Pierce.
At twenty-seven, Hannah Catalano has a train wreck. Her boyfriend is a deadbeat and her job is abysmal.
Matt and Hannah meet online as writing partners. Their relationship is safe, anonymous, and innocent...
Until Matt sees a picture of Hannah.
Hannah's picture sparks an attraction Matt is powerless to ignore. When circumstance brings Matt and Hannah together, the strangers begin a love story that's passionate, poignant, unforgettable, and unstoppable.

I gave it 3.5 stars out of five stars CONTAINS SPOILERS!
The idea for this book was interesting. Two strangers who met online to co-author a story, and then found themselves thrust into each other’s awaiting hands by fate. Now I’m torn on how I should feel…
The beginning was slow moving for me. You would get a moment when things started to heat up and then dissipated beneath Matt’s cold attitude towards her. The characters were interesting and enjoyable to follow. The dialog was engaging and the exchanged witty banter a lot of fun to read. Even the pets had a developed personality and important role.

I thought I knew what direction the book was going into, and then it took a sudden turn. This has me rather uncertain. The character’s backgrounds are what made me forgive most of their annoying traits. Two perfect strangers with an undeniable lust for one another- this I was fine with. But the coupling in front of Hannah’s parents’ house was… Yeah, I just don’t know how to feel about it.
Matt had a girlfriend but promptly cheated on her when Hannah came into the picture. He was racked with guilt, which made it easier for me to swallow, though he did little in the way of redeeming himself. I don’t think Hannah was a weak female character; actually, I enjoyed her a lot, but she had her moments were I was completely confused and wanted to yell at her.

The sex scenes were steamy, if you’re into that type of thing. There was some light bondage, anal, and later the use of a belt. To me it was fine, purely consensual and the book wasn't chalk full of just spanking. They were totally insatiable though, so the scenes were plenty.
It was a simple plotline, made complex with character back stories and development. The twists were interesting, though I wish we were given more drama at what was supposed to be the big turning point in the story.

Over all this was pretty well written and I would buy the next installment out of curiosity. I don’t hate this book, but I don’t love it either.

The Darkness Falls by Jynell Hull

The Darkness Falls
BlurbAfter retreating to her hometown to heal from a devastating breakup, Jamie Lewis does the one thing she promised herself she wouldn't do - Fall in love.
Michael is dark, mysterious and his eyes hold secrets that she can't even begin to imagine but despite his warnings she cannot stay away.
Drawn to him like a magnet, she finds herself in his world. A world of pain and darkness and death and she forces him to make a decision that he doesn't want to make. Can Michael save her by doing the one thing he vowed he would never do or will he be condemned to exist without her?
I gave this four out of five stars.
This is the sequel to the Edge of Darkness that follows Jamie Lewis more than Michael. I won’t lie; I was pleased to see him back in action with a possibility of finding true love. Again, the details to the town were lovely and the side characters had a life of their own, but I was a little thrown off with the clichés scattered in the plot. It was oddly reminiscent of twilight, in my opinion.
This story line was fast paced with lots of drama, love, suspense, and secrets lying in the background, just waiting to spring up when it was the most unexpected. Jamie had been hurt in the past by a man she held dear and though that affected her greatly she still came across as a strong and beautiful individual. I wish Elizabeth had more of a playing role, but even with the few scenes she popped up in she flourished with life. It’s almost hard to describe this book without accidentally giving something away. The small things you wouldn’t think were important had such an impact later on that all I can do is tell you to keep your eyes peeled; the mystery slowly unfolds with every page and chapter.
I couldn’t stop reading until I got to the last page, and I still wonder if there may be more waiting around the corner. If you’re a fan of paranormal romance I recommend you take a peek at this series, it’s well-written and very intriguing.

Tempted (A Nightshade Novel) by Brenda Tetreault

tempted
Paranormal Romance
Blurb
He spotted her in club Nightshade, a beautiful goddess among the mortals, and from that moment on she was his everything. She tempted him. She intrigued him. He wanted her.
Sabrina Donahue knew she was playing with fire from the moment their lips met, but something about Roman Arceneaux made it difficult for her to care.
Sensual and darkly intense, Roman is every woman’s fantasy come to life. One by one, Sabrina’s reservations fall prey to his skilled seduction, leaving her dreaming of a future she never imagined.
When monsters and mayhem intrude upon their lives, Sabrina’s fragile existence is threatened and Roman is left to wonder if their love will survive.

I gave this five out of five stars
Sabrina Donahue lives her life testing the boundaries of extreme behavior yet never completely crosses the lines. She aches to be completely accepted by a family that regards her only as an embarrassment to their good- and wealthy- name. She is an outcast living in the walls of a high social circle waiting to pounce on the slightest mistake.
Roman Arceneaux is a man cursed from birth, who walks the world of the paranormal with a gleaming smile and blade in hand. He is sinfully beautiful and when his dark eyes fall on a true human beauty in the club, the hunt was on. He would have her; but the planned out one night stand suddenly turns into something more… Something deeper and scarier for both of them.
Now pulled into a whole new world of danger and seduction, Sabrina must trust Roman to keep her safe. But deception lurks around every corner, waiting to pull the two apart and destroy what they crave most- acceptance and love.

Independent and strong, Sabrina puts up a tough front and easily becomes a lovable character. Behind closed doors her walls fall and drew the reader further into a relatable darkness of longing and grief. Roman was swoon worthy from the start with his charismatic appearance and stunning good looks. His own haunted past only enhances the true beauty this man is. Even the side characters like Gael or Morgan will touch your heart and become close friends by the last page. Brenda created a whole new world that is perfectly balanced between action, mystery, suspense, and delicious romance. The storyline flowed smoothly with enough details to paint a vivid picture, yet didn’t take away from what was going on. It was enthralling to piece together the overall plot, and interesting to experience the situations from different perspectives- including some from the side characters.

But what really got me the most were the villains in the book. It’s hard to say what was so unique and captivating about them without giving away spoilers, so I’ll just say Caius is by far my favorite baddy.
I loved this story so much that I started reading it again! If you’re a fan of paranormal romance I highly recommend you read this book! It was worth every cent and then some. I can’t wait for the next one!

Memoirs of a Succubus by Lillian Mackenzie Rhine

Erotica
Blurb
Sex – the carnal desire shared between two or more beings resulting in the most powerful of energy surges exhibited by man, animal and beast. Even promiscuity can be seen as normal in today's world of “hooking up”. Natalya Hart has certainly experienced all the joys that an enormous sexual appetite can provide. Picking up men and making them submit to her has become a sport – an art. However, an unfortunate combination of events take place that cause her to evaluate her present, her past and finally her future. Is she really a young woman having fun living in the hedonistic now, or, is there something else burning in her soul, itching to come out?

I give this book three point five out of five stars
Natalya Hart is distracted by an all consuming flame of desire burning inside her body. Even with the multiple bed partners, she cannot find satisfaction for long. She has little regrets for using men like play toys to her sexual needs, but even under the cold exterior something seems wrong. Why doesn't she want a lasting relationship like other girls? But the answer comes with a price she is about to unknowingly pay...

Memoirs of a Succubus is an undeniably steamy erotica, and written extremely well. However, I couldn't get into it and I can't fully explain why. The plotline wasn't as dramatic as I thought it would be, even after Natalya discovered the truth about herself; and the book was definitely too short- though there is a second one coming up. The side characters didn't last very long, but each one had a different and interesting personality that added to the story. I would continue reading the series because I am curious to learn more about the mysterious stranger in her dreams, and where things end up. A lot of questions were answered, but like any good cliffhanger the story seems to just be starting.

Now please welcome Lillian MacKenzie Rhine today on her blog tour for her paranormal fantasy, Memoirs of a Succubus, that will be on sale starting October 10, 2013. Enjoy an excerpt from the book, below!

Crouching down in a hidden dark corner, Natalya rose, advancing to the familiar sandalwood scent that to her surprise gave her so much comfort. When the tall, stout form came into view, Natalya crawled into his lap and laid her head on the chest thick with muscles from fighting an adventurous life. He squeezed Natalya's trembling body tighter trying to absorb her into his heart. This was his love, the one who branded him for life with a single kiss. Natalya started to sob, releasing the remaining emotional energy she had as he smoothed back her hair kissing her brow.
“Ssshhhh, my love. I am with you now,” the man continued. With these words, the surrounding mist transitioned in hue from dull gray to mute black into warm pink.
“What is up with the color changes?” Natalya asked through sniffles.
“Our energy is so powerful that our emotions are leaked out into the environment,” he said soothing her drained body.
“Like a natural mood ring?”
“I am not familiar with this ring of moods,” he said curiously as the background color changed to amber.
“It is a ring that people wear. Nevermind,” changing the subject, “why do I feel so connected to you? Like my rocky, shaky world is being stilled and calmed while I lay in your arms,” Natalya said running her fingers over his chest.
As the area began to glow a vibrant teal, he stated, “You have marked me. Once our bodies joined as one, I became yours and you mine.” Pausing to kiss the palm of her hand, “I will protect you until my energy ignites no longer my queen Nahema.”
“Then you must not love me then,” Natalya stated, disheartened with the new development.
“What ever do you mean my love.”
“I am not Nahema. Yes she is inside of me, but, she and I are two separate people,” Natalya said looking into his warm, charcoal irises.
“Natalya and Nahema are compliments. One in the same,” he said brushing his cool lips against her warm skin soothing her uneasiness.
“No! We are not one in the same. She is completely reckless. She does not care what the outcome is as long as she selfishly gets her greedy way,” Natalya blurted out as the tint of the atmosphere darkened to black back into amber.
“What do you mean?” he said at full attention to her mood change. “Her consumption of life energy must be occurring at high quantities with no breaks to rest,” he said to himself almost to himself. “This is not good. This is dangerous.”
“Yes! Nahema is totally out of control. Plus she is starting to control me more and more,” feeling the tightness in her throat she croaked out, “and there is no stopping her.” She began to grab at her chest alerting his senses to danger. He clasped her hands that were situated around her aching chest as she wheezed for air.
“Nahema, what is going on? Speak to me my love!” he said in a panic.
Natalya said with a squeak, “Help...”, then the room shifted to a cold, silent black.
“Nahema..! Nahema...!”...”Natalya...? Natalya!”
A rumble started from the center of her small body that was so chilling that it froze time and consequently terror into his spirit.
Nahema's eyes shot open creating a kaleidoscope of colors in the air shifting in rapid succession like the shutter of a camera. She lowered herself from his lap with the grace of a dancer, standing to face the look of trepidation mixed with intimidation in his eyes. She cocked her head to the side licking her lips as a hungry predator about to rip her weak prey to bloody shreds.
“Greetings Sinnocent, my love,” she purred with sarcasm.
“Nahema?” Sinnocent announced.
“Yes my pet, it is I, in the pitiful flesh,” she said in disgust.
“What have you done to her?”
“This is a dream sequence, correct? She is sleeping my dear,” Nahema said letting out a wicked chuckle. “Now continue professing your love for your queen.”
“Love you,” he said to himself,”love you? I love her. I connected with her and I was marked. What is to become of her?” he demanded.
“Her? Her! That stupid mortal. She owes her life to me. She was dead and I gave her life. But because of your interference and her misguided research, she believes she gives me life! Ha!” Nahema said rumbling with annoyance.
With the situation possibly taking an uncontrollable turn, Sinnocent softened his tone. “Natalya has been the optimum viable being for the queen to inhabit. I interfered due to my concern for her safety and the future of our race.”
“The future of our race?”
“Yes, Lord Micah, your mother's sibling, was the successor to rule our people in the event of your mother's expiration contingent on her not birthing any offspring,” he continued his speech, “Lord Micah was notified that a child succubus had entered the realm prior to the death of the queen, your mother, thus making her progeny, Nahema, the ruler of our race. However, your spirit had yet to fuse with a viable life form in our world.”
Nahema glared at him in silence awaiting the remainder and subsequent conclusion of his tale.
“Lord Micah apprehended your energy but could not destroy it until it obtained a life form. Due to the the war that was occurring, life forms were rare. So he sent you to earth where you and Natalya joined. I stole you away from danger and placed you with Mr. and Mrs. Hart where you remained in safety and under my watchful eye until lately. Lord Micah has knowledge of your location and plans to be your undoing.”
Nahema erupted in a maddening cackle, finding humor in his long tale. “My poor Sinnocent, there is nothing to worry about. I have taken over this inadequate piece of flesh. She would have fallen prey to death but not I.”
“You are mistaken. If she dies then so do you. I cannot let that happen. The spirit must be released. I will make my way, in haste, to Earth, to ensure the safe return of the queen and my love,” he said with firmness.
“I am NOT going any DAMN where! I like it here and there is plenty of suitable energy for my consumption. I want it all,” Nahema said drooling with the thought.
“You fool!” he shouted, snapping her out of her fantasy. “I have been marked by her. I am her protector, even if it is protection from you.”
“Ha! No you are the fool!” Nahema paused to deliver her final line to Sinnocent, “do not fret over that emotional creature. I am planning on silencing her for good.”
With those final words sitting on top of the scream of a banshee, Sinnocent found himself laying on the bed in his realm gasping for air. He had to save her. He had to save Natalya and it would take a days journey to reach her.

Contemporary Romance/Erotica
Blurb
Warning: Not for the faint of heart, those who can't handle a plus sized woman stripping, or those who clutch their pearls at hot sex. 18+

Cherry Kilgore is a plus sized beauty who moonlights at a strip club and goes by the name Tart. She dances to have control over her body and chase away her demons, hiding behind a mask, the only thing that makes her feel free. She loves 'em and leaves 'em, never letting a man get too close. Until she meets a man one night that strips her bare with his electric green eyes. Kellan Morgan is a playboy with a good heart, who loves a woman with real curves. When he figures out that the woman hiding under her mask is worth revealing, he decides to play her game... A game that is full of pleasure, pain, going the distance and finally getting the ultimate prize... Realizing that love can truly be found in the darkest of places.

I gave it five out of five stars!
Cher (Cherry) Kilgore is an administrative assistant by day and a stripper by night. She is a plus sized beauty who never truly fight in, instead she finds acceptance and peace in the heavy thump of the music. She doesn't have a problem with how she looks, so why should anyone else?

Kellan Morgan is enthralled by the enchantress on the stage of the strip club, and his new assistant. One wears a mask and stays behind her secret identity with a flirty attitude, the other has tall cold walls erected around her heart and a spunky personality. Every time his eyes set on either one, he is further torn. He wants them both, but he isn't the complete player the papers make him out to be...

Cherry knows the truth; watching as Kellan's eyes lock onto her both at work and on stage. She wants to deny the spark between them as her past stops her from taking a chance and lowering her walls. She is a man-eater, the toughest chick around, but she might have finally found the man who can challenge that. Does she dare play one more man, or step down onto a whole new field?

This book was great from page one! Not only did it have a lot of female empowerment, wonderful character development, and the hottest scenes that scorched my kindle (not literally, of course) but it was also humorous. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, and I felt Cherry's inner battle to overcome what she thought she once knew. It was a rollercoaster of enjoyment that ended too soon. This book is too much to put into words. It moved me in a whole new sense, and had me rereading it once I hit the last page. The characters were engaging, and fun to learn about with realistic demons and lovable quirks. Cherry is a woman I can relate too, and Kellan is a man I am sooo lusting after!

Cherry Tart is definitely one of my favorite books now, and highly recommended to all romance lovers!

The Edge of Darkness by Jynell Hull

the edge of darkness
The Edge of Darkness
Blurb
Life is falling apart at the seams for Michael Giordano. He has dropped out of medical school which enrages his father and his beloved mother's health is becoming worse every day.
He meets Olivia and for the first time in a long time he feels whole. He is alive and in love. But Olivia's past is haunted by an evil vampire who won't let her go and when past and present worlds collide hell breaks loose throwing Michael into a nightmare he can't wake up from and it forces him to chose between living in the light or dying on the edge of darkness.

I give this 3.5 out of five stars.
The Edge of Darkness follows a man named Michael Giordano, with a well-blended mix of historical and modern day romance. Unfortunately with the strict behavioral acceptance of the Victorian era and how this book betrayed it, I was left a little unsatisfied. I felt that key details and character behavior in the beginning of the book were left out, making a great read fall to only good. The middle went a little slow, turning to the angsty side of vampiric life and how dreadful forever can be. While it was crucial to the development of the character and added a needed sense of realism to the book, it became tiresome after a few chapters and had me eager for some sort of action. When things picked up the book went back into being fast paced and intriguing. I loved how the vampires were depicted by Jynell Hull, and the little added details to the surrounding serene. As time passed by life changed with subtle hints like the invention of automobiles and working electricity. This helped out to introduce the new time period without making it feel as though the entire book was filled with holes. Well done! Her ideas and thoroughly created side characters have snagged up my interest. Spoiler, the books ends in the cliffhanger that has me eager to begin the next book. All in all, I will keep an eye out for more works by this author. I believe with a little more research any historical romance book written by her would be completely swoon worthy, and that should she continue working with the paranormal, I will be hooked on her books soon.

New Adult Romance
Blurb
Ugly duckling Dakota Dane has a new boyfriend. He’s male-model gorgeous, built to perfection, wealthy, and smart. He is also a lie. As in, 100% fabricated. Does it matter that Dakota has a perfectly good reason for making him up? Not really. Not when Dakota’s made-up boyfriend shows up in the flesh.
So is she crazy? All signs point to maybe. But the walking, talking enigma with the deadly vibe isn’t about to give her any answers or let her out of his sight. And with college just around the corner, Dakota fears her dreams of a bright future have just collided with a dark rabbit hole…

I gave it five out of five stars
Dakota Dane told one little lie in the heat of the moment. Just one, and really it was a stupid one that should have been easily brushed under the rug. But did things go that way? Nope, it just couldn't for her, and now she is in a world she never knew existed filled with more than little white lies. These are dark, dangerous, and about to come out.

Going through high school as an outcast isn't easy. When eighteen hits, Dakota decides it is time for a change. She has a new look and a new boyfriend by her side to conquer it. The only issue is her boyfriend doesn't exist beyond facebook, or he shouldn't since she made him up. But when the gorgeous model Santiago suddenly appears, trouble follows that make her regret ever posting that little lie.

This New Adult Romance blew me out of the water! The cover was what caught my attention first, I thought it looked good, but then the blurb really sealed the deal. It is well written with plenty of mystery to keep your eyes glued on each page. The characters all play a key role in this wonderful tale. Each one has it's own personality with a thought out background and breath of life that is simply captivating. The plot is magnificent filled with twists and turns you will never expect. But mostly importantly, to me, it was A LOT of fun to read!
I have never read anything by Mimi Pamfiloff before, but after reading this I must own all of her work! Fate Book is well worth the time, chance, and money; and I recommend it to all romance lovers!

Soon thereafter a string of gruesome murders between St. Peter’s and Chapel Island lead everyone except Rachel to believe that Gavin has returned to his murderous ways. With Ian’s help Rachel sets out to find Gavin and prove his innocence before Angus is forced to give the order to kill on sight.

I gave it five out of five stars.
Once I finished book one, Vampires of Soldiers Cove, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the next. The first book did not end in a cliffhanger so I was curious to see where the story would go; sad to say more go on a new slope of drama that tends to come across as dry and overplayed. But with One Crow Sorrow I was not disappointed. The dearly beloved vampires are back in a new adventure filled with mystery, betrayal, and plenty of steamy action!

Settling into the slow life as newly weds isn't easy, especially with a blood blond between them that makes Rachel feel like Gavin is suffocating her in attention. When his brother, Ian, returns to town she is given the break she needs to simply gather her thoughts. But when the brothers return from a boys day out, things take a terrible turn for the worse. Gavin isn't himself and leaves as a string of murders from St. Peters to Chapel Island pops up. His bad history has everyone but Rachel pointing their fingers, but even she can only hold on for so long. Can their love survive the accusations, or will this mystery put a quick stop to their married life?

Just like every other book I have read by Jessica MacIntyre, this one is captivating and compelling. I didn't want to put it down until I hit the last page, then I wanted to reread it all over again simply to live inside this magical world Jessica has created. The story line was intense, mixing a dark fantasy with hot romance in a seamless blend that is beyond words. The uglier side to our creatures of the night was further exposed, as well as the uglier side of humanity. The realism put into this book helps give that strong connection to her characters, who are wonderful but each has their own flaws. (I have a total crush on Ian!) The descriptions were magnificent! I felt like I was watching a movie rather than reading a book, and all too soon it ended. This one does have a cliffhanger, but I thought it was beautifully done and once again leads into a whole new set of problems, rather than carry the main plot on like most series do. I can't wait to read more, and highly recommend this book to vampire lovers everywhere!

*Note from Vampy, I couldn't decide what image to use, the full cover or just the front, so I put both up. Isn't the artwork great?!  Also, have some tissues on hand when reading this, there were times I had to stop reading so I could dry my eyes. Talk about a true roller coaster ride of emotions, and the book hangover it gave me is still going on. Siiiigh

Black Heart (Cursed Hearts Series) by R.L. Mathewson

black hearts
Paranormal Romance
Blurb
There was something seriously wrong with Marty. That was the only explanation that she could come up with. Why else would she feel this way for the biggest SOB in town? Granted, he was also the hottest man in town, but he was also arrogant, callous, and determined to drive her away even as he drove her crazy with his touch. She should just walk away from him and probably would if it wasn’t for this connection that she’d always had with him that kept making her want more with the one man that couldn’t give her anything more than heartache.

He should have left and never looked back when he’d decided to finally do the right thing and push Marty out of his life, but instead he stuck around to torture himself by staying close to the one woman that he could never allow himself to have. She deserved better than him, better than the tortured existence that he led and better than the horrifying future that waited for him.

I gave it five out of five stars.
Call me what you will, but I am a HUGE R.L. Mathewson fan and I doubt that will ever change. I was gifted Black Heart by a friend and devoured it as quickly as I could.

Marty is a tough, feisty, hardworking independent woman who won't take anyone's shit; and that includes the cold, totally alpha male Tristan, who just happens to be the hottest guy around and her crush since high school. His attitude leaves no room for anyone beside his adopted family to get close, and that means pushing his childhood friend away as soon as he got ready for collage. But he has a dark secret that needs to be kept to himself no matter what. Already the town deems him crazy, how worse would things get if they found out he saw ghosts?

Her characters are well developed with quick wit and stubborn traits that will have you laughing with them, and sometimes wanting to strangle them- all in good nature, though. She combines her old writing style (the one we're used to) with a new spin; strategically twisting humor and seriousness to give the right air for every detailed scene.
My only complaint involves the secondary characters. There were so many that even the author seemed to get confused and would write the wrong name with the dialog. But regardless of it, they were fun to read about as was everything else. The prologue; in the author note R.L. Mathewson talks a bit about her decision to add it to the story. She said she believed it added more to it- and I have to agree! I loved it and thought it took a good story to a whole new level. Without it, we would have been missing important information about Tristan that helps reveal the whys behind some of his peeves.
The plot line was a bit complex but I believe it was explained pretty well through out the book. It was mysterious and full of mind blowing twists!

I'm trying really hard not to go into a bunch of spoilers, so I will wrap it up with this: R.L. Mathewson has released another wonderful book that has me eagerly awaiting the next one in the series; and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in paranormal romance! (And it's a steal for only $2.99)

Detective Jarrod Granger is a homicide detective with the Anchorage Police Department, investigating a slew of murders in the city. The killer is stabbing his victims 19 times each, and cutting out their tongues, and he has already struck three times. Detective Granger's own past may get in the way of his present and future, but he and his partner, Detective Misty Lawrence, must trudge through their tumultuous work relationship to track down the killer who has been dubbed The Tongue Snatcher.

Stacey Alexander is a guarded, 26 year old, unnatural redhead who is unshakably loyal to her father Vincent. She works day in and day out to take care of Vincent since he has been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer and she would do anything to keep him safe, even when she meets a detective who is quickly falling for her. But Stacey and Vincent have a dark secret; one that bonds them together more than any "normal" family. And soon, Stacey will have to choose between protecting the father that she loves, or accepting the love of the detective who is zeroing in on a familiar target.

I gave it five out of five stars
Jarrod is a playboy with a past that continues to bite him in the butt. He finally has a way to change that by partnering up with Misty, and catching the dubbed 'tongue snatcher'. Right away we learn our handsome detective loves the ladies, but none of them have any place in his heart. That is, until his eyes sweep over Stacey Alexander. Suddenly the tables are turned and he begins to believe he may have met the perfect wife. Or she would be perfect, if she were interested in the idea. But with her father deathly ill, Stacey wants to spend her time with him rather than going out dating. Who can blame her? The sexy hero can't, and he tries to be there for her through it all, even while chasing dead ends at his own job and facing a shameful canning.
The characters were wonderful and realistic. The dialog flowed out smoothly between them and each of their struggles easily became your own. The descriptive scenes and easy writing style thrust you into the thick of the mystery. Now, the writing style was what really piqued my interest. It was mainly written in first person with a light and simple flow, but W.S. Greer also gave you third person glimpses through the story that only added to the over all effect of his book. You were kept wondering who did what until the very end. The suspense almost killed me (not literally, of course)! I loved it more than I can explain!
Each twist, each step the characters took, heck, each breath they exhaled had you on the edge of your seat. It was incredibly hard to put down once I started and I would LOVE to read more by this author. Phenomenal job, it's almost hard to believe this is his first book. And for $2.99, it is worth picking up!

Eternal Darkness by Natalie Hancock

eternal darkness
Paranormal Romance (153 pages)
Blurb
Layla, a twenty-one-year-old half-breed known as a dhampir, is incredibly beautiful and deadly. She drinks vampire blood for power and to stop the burning hunger.

The vampire academy is a hundred acres of land surrounded by high tech security to ensure that none enter or leave. She is the protection.

When she has lessons with the vampires, she struggles with her hunger and has to learn to trust them—a big issue for Layla because of her past, something she can neither forget nor run from. The past that haunts her dreams reminds her that she cannot hide as she lives her life in the academy.
Then there is Shade—an impossibly handsome vampire and Layla’s one-on-one instructor. Desires she never knew rise whenever he looks at her. She cannot stop how her body reacts to his touch or how much she wants his body and his blood.

It is a forbidden lust that they share, one they must keep a secret from those around them or Layla risks everyone finding out who she really is.

Someone wants her dead. Layla’s goals, deal with the vampires who hate dhampir’s and keep herself alive. Can she do it?

I gave it four out of five stars
Layla is a half breed vampire called a Dhampire. Rather than living off of human blood, she goes for other supernatural beings- namely other vampires. This of course leaves her as a sort of outcast. She begins attending a vampire academy- where most teenage vampires are asked to go until they can learn to survive on their own- and runs into a very sexy one-on-one trainer named Shade. The lust between them is quick and consuming. With the dangers of the outside world pressing in on what is supposed to be a safe haven, being prepared is the only thing that can save her- and possibly everyone else.

Where do I start? The beginning gave me shivers, Natalie Hancock plunges you immediately into the story with a vivid scenes and plenty of action. The lust between Layla and Shade is steamy, there is no denying it, but the build up is what really made everything hot! I love how Layla is portrayed as a strong, independent female character. And Shade is an alpha who knows his boundaries. Though the book was written in first person (something I typically avoid) I found the given looks inside the main character's mind subtle. It was still a mystery about what would happen next- what Layla would do when a new turn of events came around. Everything was well written, my only complaint is the repetition in the battle scenes. Fighting is awesome, but constant fighting... It would have lost my attention is not for the smooth transitions into riveting dialog and suspenseful drama.
Of course, since this is the first in a series, it ended with a cliffhanger. But what a cliffhanger it was! In fact, I bought the next book immediately and started to devour it before realizing I had forgotten to write a review. Well done! I would recommend this story to anyone looking for a quick paced, action packed book! (But they do ask for $5.99, so don't be shocked when you see the price. I admit, I got it for free.)

Now, after barely surviving a bomb meant to just scare her, she's on the run from an Italian Crime Boss, falling head over heels in love with a handsome actor that should not even be interested in frumpy old her and about to question everything she holds dear.

Join Devon and Adrian in this Action Adventure Contemporary Romance as they fight off the Mob, uncover secrets worth dying for and make the ultimate sacrifice to answer the question, how far would you go, All In The Name Of Love...

I gave it five out of five stars
Adrian Hoyle is a cold shelled lawyer who doesn't believe in love and romance. All of that nonsense is better suited for the movies and late night fantasies- especially if they involve Devon Varick. Being a huge fan of his, but a level headed woman, she is shocked to run across his path and even more shocked when he immediately notices her. But those charming good looks won't make her falter, even in person. Happily ever after is his job, hers involves the darker side of reality...
Devon Varick can't explain the immediate attraction he has to the sharp tongue, tough lawyer who snaps at him right after meeting him. Maybe it's the brown hair, the luscious curves, or the large brain, and equally large heart, that has him ready to bend over backwards to try and please her. But this handsome Hollywood actor has a large secret, and after making the wrong move it comes back to bite him.Adrian takes a case that suddenly puts the Italian mob after her and sends her on a twisted journey that makes her question everything. Her cold shell begins to crack, his secrets are out, and they discover what they would truly do all in the name of love...I could not stop crying while reading this book.
Every gut wrenching moment the characters felt, I felt as well. Their pains, struggles, and endearing love for one another touched me deeply. Adrian's self-image issues were relate-able, and that tough exterior that melted into a soft, kind soul made her a cheer worthy female lead. Devon was a sweet heart, even if he didn't show it properly, and is totally book boyfriend material. Even with the secondary characters that amazing development never changed. The story line was packed with suspense and action that left me breathless and sitting on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put the book down even if I wanted to! The descriptive details given created a beautiful backdrop in my mind for each scene, and only added to the exquisite tale Margaret Taylor wove. I felt the beginning was a bit rushed and when I got to the end I desperately craved more. Jerimiah would be a wonderful second book *hinthint* to cure this predicament. I could see myself reading this story over and over in the future, and would highly recommend it to all romance lovers! This book was amazing!
I don't know what the price for it is (I think I hit a sale), but I bought it for 99 cents and thought it was worth the money.

The Slave Knight by Jessica MacIntyre

the slave knight
Erotica Novella
Blurb
When Henry is transported to a strange underground world inhabited by creatures who he thought existed only in fantasy he is introduced to a set of twins who will teach him how to please a woman. The lessons will involve both pleasure and pain as the young knight is stripped of his innocence. Meanwhile Iliya prepares to wed the satyr king, and Roman, king of Mayfair, agonizes over a lost love.

I gave this book five out of five stars.
The Slave Knight seamlessly picks up right where the first book left off. In a magical world where pleasure is the ruling factor in everyone’s life; Iilya is preparing to marry the King, learning of the power seduction and love. On Earth the King Roman continues the hunt for his missing bride, and his loyal knight battles his own cardinal desires for the fair and beautiful woman. When they stumble upon the portal to another realm, everything they knew is drawn into question and secrets are suddenly revealed in a huge twist of events.

This book is true to the erotica genre, and seriously burns up the pages! Jessica MacIntyre placed an appropriate amount of sex and story in one short book, continuing on with this emotional and physical story of character growth and discovery. Much like the first one, I fell in love with her characters all over again. They are relatable, realistic, and driven to their hearts desires. The storyline is easy to follow and almost bittersweet. There were some truly touching moments when these characters, which were raised to follow proper order in society, are finally able to look within and say what they truly want for themselves. Just as there are touching moments, there are also darker ones brought one by greed, grief, and a need for revenge.

I can’t properly put into words how much I enjoyed it. I devoured the story in just a few hours, and was again eager for more. Well done, I loved it and can see myself read it again in the future!
I was happy with my purchase, so the $1.99 price was well worth it to me.

A Night At The Asylum by Jade McCahon

A Night At The Aslym
Horror/Suspense
Blurb
Sara Featherstone is a loser. At twenty she is still indentured to her parents, her best friend is a closet clairvoyant, and her long time boyfriend just dumped her and refuses to tell her why. Five years ago her world ended with her brother, Tommy, running his motorcycle into a tree, and the life she might have led had never started.

Catapulted into the dark streets after a "visitation" from Tommy, Sara has no idea that all that wasted time is about to catch up with her. A chance encounter with a man wielding a knife sets in motion a chain of events so bizarre that Sara will soon question everything she has ever believed. From her boyfriend's fidelity to her best friend's innocence to what her brother knew about a missing classmate, irony is about to make Sara its bitch, and the next twelve hours might be her last.

I gave it five out of five stars.
Let's start with a young woman still grieving the death of her brother. Then add some nightmares, a few weird occurrences, paranormal events,an addiction to soda, and BAM! A hauntingly beautiful story emerges with the perfect mix of suspense and mystery.

Sara is an incredibly stubborn woman who is taking one step forward, and two back in life. She lives in a small gossipy town that barely sees more than a simple disorderly conduct on Friday nights. Her beloved brother, Tommy, passed away in a motorcycle accident five years prier and that accident still lingers on her broken heart. Her boyfriend is now an ex for mysterious reasons, her best friend is a charmingly bubbly woman that won't judge when things need to come out; like the reoccurring nightmares that have started to wake her up at odd hours of the night. Life seems to really be taking a dump on Sara, but the reasons are about to unfold in this captivating tale of a small town with a big secret.

Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. Honestly when I came across the dreaded "The End" on the last page, I had thought I had been watching a movie the entire time. It was perfectly descriptive with a sense of realism that kept me wondering 'what if' or 'could this really happen'? I loved it! Even if it did scare me on an occasion, haha. Sara isn't the perfect hero, she is an average girl who happens to stumble into things beyond her control and can only roll with what it gives her. Which, along with her witty and tough attitude, made her all the more lovable. My heart went out to almost of the characters in this book, even the smaller ones seemed to play an important role. The story line was smooth, well thought out, and immensely intriguing. Though horror isn't usually my first book of choice, I will be rereading this one again! And again... And again...

Well done! Seriously recommended to horror, suspense, drama, and mystery fans everywhere! It's $3.99 (last time I looked, price may have dropped since then), but to me, the price is well worth it!

Ready And... Action! by Artie Margrave Review

ready and... action!
Zombie short story
Blurb
It's the zombie apocalypse and the living have been separated from the undead. However, life still goes on as normal. Normal means there're some who prefer to be on the spotlight more than others. But, to what length can people go to to make themselves known...

I gave it five out of five stars
For a short story this was pretty satisfying. It starts off with three people running from hoards of zombies; just witnessing their friend dying by the corpses hands has instilled deep fear and a heavy grief in their hearts. From there the dark edge never lifts, they go to seek shelter in a man-made sanctuary away from those lifeless fingers that seek out new flesh to devour. It was well written with a major twist that caught me by surprise and made me wish the story was just a little bit longer. I could feel the emotion the characters presented, and imagine the long alleys and empty, torn up roads they came across.
Artie clearly knows how to build up suspense and keep you hang onto his every word. Well done! I will be looking for more of his works.

Shadow (book 9 in the New Species Series) by Laurann Dohner

shadow
Romance/erotica
Blurb
Beauty resents being labeled Gift Species. Everyone is way too overprotective, males aren’t even allowed to speak to her and so far, true freedom eludes her. Then a big, sexy Species officer mistakes her for the enemy and takes her down—literally.
Shadow is dumbfounded. He has a Gift pinned beneath him—a big no-no. But Beauty is fascinated and wants to know Shadow a lot better. She’s full of newly discovered, unrequited passion and he’s just what she needs to satisfy her curiosity.
For Shadow, sex means pain and loathing. For Beauty, enslavement and ridicule. Two lonely souls who have never known a loving touch, together in a cabin in the woods. Every caress, every discovery brings them closer to a life they never thought possible…beyond even their wildest dreams.

I gave it six out of five stars
(haha, amazon restricts me to five but you get the idea here ;) ) I fell in love with this series with book one but this one is my absolute favorite!

Laurann continues to tell the life of the New Species after gaining their freedom from the horrible Mercile Industries and twisted tortures of various buyers. Beauty is a Gifted female- a woman who had her DNA mixed with a timid creature to be used as a slave for rich investors. She is weaker than the rest of the New Species and treated almost like a child. They assume, because of the other Gifts that were rescued, she would want nothing more to do with men and she needed to be protected at all times. The New Species get one heck of a shock when she proves them wrong.

Shadow was used as a breeding subjected. He went through some tough times that have left him emotionally scarred. When he comes across Beauty things change. She wants him and he wants her- but can he trust himself to push down his animalistic urges that tell him to dominate her, when she deserves something better?
Beauty really takes the stage in this book. She shows them that she is braver and stronger than anyone gave her credit for as danger arises. It's pretty empowering. Her curiosity and innocence is adorable, giving you plenty to chuckle about when the moment seems tough. It is a little refreshing from her other books where the females seem more fragile. And Shadow is a sexy man who will definitely star in my future dreams. Yum!
This book was well-written, amusing, sexy, and gripped you mercilessly until the last page! The content in these books may be found disturbing to some as Laurann Dohner discusses topics like torture and rape; but in my opinion, it was tastefully done as the characters work to over come it and move on with their lives. I could honestly talk for hours about this book- and the rest of the series- but I won't out of fear of handing out spoilers. Though this is a series each book can be read as a stand alone and I highly recommend checking this one out!

Normally I am hesitant to spend so much on an ebook (it's listed as $9.99 to me), but this series has me addicted. I won't be happy until I've read every one- and then some- and own the paperbacks.
I really hope Moon isn't the last book in the series. There are still so many other characters that need mates!
