Blurb
Detective Jarrod Granger is a homicide detective with the Anchorage Police Department, investigating a slew of murders in the city. The killer is stabbing his victims 19 times each, and cutting out their tongues, and he has already struck three times. Detective Granger's own past may get in the way of his present and future, but he and his partner, Detective Misty Lawrence, must trudge through their tumultuous work relationship to track down the killer who has been dubbed The Tongue Snatcher.

Stacey Alexander is a guarded, 26 year old, unnatural redhead who is unshakably loyal to her father Vincent. She works day in and day out to take care of Vincent since he has been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer and she would do anything to keep him safe, even when she meets a detective who is quickly falling for her. But Stacey and Vincent have a dark secret; one that bonds them together more than any "normal" family. And soon, Stacey will have to choose between protecting the father that she loves, or accepting the love of the detective who is zeroing in on a familiar target.

I gave it five out of five stars
Jarrod is a playboy with a past that continues to bite him in the butt. He finally has a way to change that by partnering up with Misty, and catching the dubbed 'tongue snatcher'. Right away we learn our handsome detective loves the ladies, but none of them have any place in his heart. That is, until his eyes sweep over Stacey Alexander. Suddenly the tables are turned and he begins to believe he may have met the perfect wife. Or she would be perfect, if she were interested in the idea. But with her father deathly ill, Stacey wants to spend her time with him rather than going out dating. Who can blame her? The sexy hero can't, and he tries to be there for her through it all, even while chasing dead ends at his own job and facing a shameful canning.
The characters were wonderful and realistic. The dialog flowed out smoothly between them and each of their struggles easily became your own. The descriptive scenes and easy writing style thrust you into the thick of the mystery. Now, the writing style was what really piqued my interest. It was mainly written in first person with a light and simple flow, but W.S. Greer also gave you third person glimpses through the story that only added to the over all effect of his book. You were kept wondering who did what until the very end. The suspense almost killed me (not literally, of course)! I loved it more than I can explain!
Each twist, each step the characters took, heck, each breath they exhaled had you on the edge of your seat. It was incredibly hard to put down once I started and I would LOVE to read more by this author. Phenomenal job, it's almost hard to believe this is his first book. And for $2.99, it is worth picking up!
