A group of survivors on a roof seek salvation from the hungry mouths of the dead. Supplies running low and tempers running high, it is only a matter of time before the first domino falls and sets into motion an extraordinary series of events that lead to a fabled place called Deliverance. It promises redemption from crumbling world – but at what price is freedom? Is it really the palace of dreams that it claims to be? Or…is it a dark place from where nothing returns? Deliverance is the first in the Legacy of the Dead series that will change the rotted face of apocalyptic fiction as you know it…dare you take the first step onto the path of Deliverance?

I gave this five out of five stars.
I went into this with nothing but the genre in mind and the cover art, which is wonderful- very appealing and close to the book. It certainly sticks to the horror name; reminding me of a cross between Saw and Stephen King. R.D. Teun carefully crafted each scene to transport you into their world- the dark and frightening future ruled by the undead. The plotline was engaging and the only reason I could put the book down was because of rather important errands that needed to be attended.

Women, men, and children fight through each day in an attempt to survive the horrific crowds of zombies wandering the streets. R.D. gave the book a sense of realism, spending time to show you exactly how these characters felt and what they had to go through each and every day they managed to live- which included showing you their flaws. No 'Godmodding' in this series! The development of the main cast was wonderful and still continues- I'm sure- in the next book.

The details were plentiful but I felt that some of it was repetitive. I also noticed a few spelling errors in the mix. Honestly though, none of that took anything away from the book. It was great! He drew my emotions out; made me scared, made me cry a little- which is pretty rare-, and even chuckled at some of the banter between characters. A lot of questions still hang in the air and I look forward to reading the next book to find some of the answers out. Remember, monsters aren't just walking corpses or hairy beasts- they can be hiding within a human body as well. The ebook is $2.99 but you can order a paperback edition for $9.99, either way I think it is worth the price. I seriously recommend this book to anyone interested in the genre!
