Adam and Sophia were best friends but when tragedy strikes it's more than Adam can handle and he leaves Sophia alone in the dark.
Four years later, Adam and Sophia are reunited and the sparks between them return but is it too late?
Sophia is happy again and has let go of the darkness. She has great friends and a sweet boyfriend name Kyle. Now that Adam is back how will she be able to balance her boyfriend and her best friend?
The darkness always finds you again but will Adam be able to save her or leave her again?
I gave it two out of five stars
Sophia fell into darkness after her mother died, drawing her into a downward spiral of hardship. She pushed her best friends away, started partying, and slipped into a deep, lonely depression. Years later she struggles to get her head above water and seeks out help. She meets a new man, Kyle, who is a complete prince charming at first then switches into a woman's worst nightmare.
Adam loved Sophia for years but after the tragic accident that stole her light away, he did the only thing he felt he could- to step back and allow her self-destruction to begin. Guilt ate at him while she disappeared from his life, and finally, four years later he steps back into the picture to take her hand and lead her into something better.
Sophia is broken and slowly being repaired. She gets away from her evil ex and reconnects with her dear friends, discovering a lost love never dies along the way.
At first I was drawn in, learning about this woman who felt hurt and upset, but was trying to push past it for a better future. Sadly, this only lasted a few chapters. My biggest pet peeve is repetition, and this book is filled with it. Not only that but I couldn't feel an honest connect between Adam and Sophia. The petty fights made it look as though Sophia went from one abusive relationship to another; and try as I might to see it from Adam's point of view, I couldn't.
Of course not all the problems were Adam's fault, several times I wanted to knock Sophia upside the head for being shallow.
The meaningless dialog that popped up was also irritating, and the lack of detail on what were suppose to be important events or milestones made the over all effect fall flat.
I really wish I could have enjoyed this story better as the idea behind it is good.
