Long Road, Full Speed Ahead by Emily Walker

long road
Fiction?
Blurb
Grace finds herself with a toxic friend and a brand new hobby when she discovers meth. She had a promising future before Grayson came into the picture. A wolf in sheep's clothing he soon shows his true colors and they are painted with black and blue.
The drugs cause more problems than they fix, but lost in the intoxicating world of numbness she must find herself through abuse, addiction, and abortion.
Will she let the drugs take her out of the world, and be forever numb, or will an unlikely love pull her out and make her feel again?

I gave it five out of five stars
Long road, full speed ahead is a book I can only describe as a huge awakening. This book depicts the cruelty of drugs and even society; being addicted or finding yourself in an abuse relationship could happen to anyone.

Emily Walker does it again, I found myself enthralled from the first page and went through the many ups and downs Grace faced as she tried to live out on her own after high school. The characters in her book were intriguing and realistic; I couldn't help but to compare some of the people I know to a few of her cast. It was incredibly well written and though the plot line wasn't "quick" I easily lost track of the time as I started reading.

Grace starts as most teenagers do. She's happy to be out of high school, does a bit of partying with her sorority but has never touched anything hard; she has a boyfriend whom she loves but his feelings towards her are questionable. She's naive; she's trying her best but things get out of hand quickly and instead turning to her family, she meets a new friend. Miranda introduces her to a life of crystal meth and from there we see how the waters crash around her and she struggles to keep her head up.

There are scenes with mild violence, strong language, and sex- though those scenes don't go into much detail. I almost reminded me of Go Ask Alice- which is another fantastic book, in my opinion. The ending was surprising, but that is how this author tends to write. Just as you think you know where everything is going, she takes a left turn that will leave you stunned and eager for more. I really hope there is another book to this, I would love to keep reading about Grace.
The kindle price is $4.99 last time I checked.
