Hunted by Lorenz Font

hunted
Paranormal fantasy/romance
Blurb
Deep in the heart of New York City’s underworld, a horrible disease is ravaging the vampire community. The Vampire Council is on a crusade to obliterate those infected, and Harrow Gates is target Number One. The unwitting source of the plague, he suffers from the same nightmarish symptoms as his victims. The world he'd been thrust into was cold, cruel, and intent on eradicating him, and the legions of afflicted vampires he created with his bite.

A bounty hanging over his head, satisfying his hunger has become an enormous challenge for Harrow. The less he feeds, the more hideous and painful his lesions become. Constantly running for his life and learning new tricks to survive, Harrow is in no position to refuse when Pritchard Tack offers him a unique opportunity. Pritchard not only gives Harrow a new beginning, but also a purpose and a chance to rectify the chaos he created in the vampire world. However, the multi-billionaire has an agenda of his own. Jordan is a reluctant new vampire and a woman on a mission. After the demise of her family and her own transformation at the hands of Goran, the ruthless leader of the Vampire Council, her only focus is revenge. Constantly faced with one frustrating dead-end after another, a stroke of luck leads her to an underground facility that she suspects is the lair of the monster for whom she is looking.

Upon learning more about the truth behind the secret bunker, Jordan must fight against her growing feelings of friendship and concern for the facility’s inhabitants. One man in particular threatens to pull her heart away from her sworn mission. There is something behind Harrow’s dark lenses that unsettles the hardened female. Once again, she trembles and hungers for something other than red-stained revenge. Is love strong enough to override her hate-fueled thirst for vengeance?

I gave it 2.5 out of five stars
Hunted by Lorenz Font is hard to describe. A horrible disease is plaguing the vampire population with no sign of a cure emerging. The only way to handle the situation, by the Vampire Council's eyes, is the kill the infected. Enter Harrow Gates, a man cursed with the disease who tries his best to hide it and keep other's from getting infected by him. His life is spent on the run until he meets into Pritchard Tack; a millionaire who is trying to find a cure. Jordan is a woman on a mission, she's looking to kill the man who attacked her family and turned her.
She's stubborn, a skilled fighter, but gets caught snooping outside Tack's facility and is sucked into a new battle.
The cast is big and at times I would forget who is who; even now I can't list them all off. I also had issues trying to connect with her characters, which can kind of ruin a book for me.

The plot line was complex and needed time for everything to get rolling. Sadly this made most of the book was incredibly slow paced. The beginning had a lot of jumping around- time skips, flipping points of views, flashbacks- and there were several points throughout the story in which everything was just repetitive. The changing points of views never stopped, but it did get easier to follow after awhile.

Lorenz Font's idea is refreshing, but I couldn't get into it. I did enjoy the battles scenes placed throughout the book. The time the author must have taken to research very specific elements was impressive and did help to paint a more vivid picture. The details offered were great, and the few twists the book had were nice. The one thing that really bothers me is the price of the book. $12.99 is pretty steep for an ebook and I couldn't in good conscience encourage anyone to buy it.
But who knows? It might be your cup of tea.
